Complete the Maryland firearms safety training required for eligible Handgun Qualification License (HQL) applicants. This 4-hour course covers Maryland firearm law, home firearm safety, handgun mechanisms and operation, safe handling, and the required live-fire component. Training is provided by a Maryland Qualified Handgun Instructor. Maryland HQL — $150 All-Inclusive Included: Four hours of required instruction Required operation-and-handling demonstration Use of an Alpha Defense training handgun under instructor supervision Range and lane fees ammunition for the live-fire exercise One target Eye and ear protection HQL training-completion documentation Application-process guidance Optional: Additional extended range time Private firearm instruction Replacement completion documentation Student-owned firearms: Students are not required to own or bring a handgun. Alpha Defense provides the handgun needed for the supervised live-fire exercise. A student who already lawfully owns a handgun may request permission in advance to use it, subject to instructor approval, lawful transportation and range inspection. The price does not include: Maryland State Police HQL application fee Fingerprinting fees, if applicable Transportation to or from the classroom or range Additional ammunition or extended range time beyond the course requirements

Cancellation Policy
MARYLAND HQL BOOKING POLICY BOOKING AND PAYMENT Registration opens 90 days before the course and closes 48 hours before class. Full payment of $150 is required. Registrations are nontransferable. CANCELLATIONS Cancellations received at least 48 hours before class are eligible for a $100 refund. A $50 administrative fee will be deducted. Cancellations received less than 48 hours before class are nonrefundable. The full $150 payment will be forfeited because classroom space, range time, ammunition and a target have been reserved. RESCHEDULING One rescheduling request is permitted without charge when requested at least 48 hours before class. The replacement course must be completed within 90 days and is subject to availability. A second rescheduling request requires a $50 fee. Requests received less than 48 hours before class require a new registration and payment. ATTENDANCE AND NO-SHOWS Students must complete all required classroom instruction, firearm-handling exercises and the supervised live-fire component. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late will not be admitted. Failure to attend or complete any required portion will result in forfeiture of the full payment. A new registration and payment will be required. No additional no-show fee will be charged. STUDENT REQUIREMENTS Students must present valid government-issued photo identification and follow all instructor and range safety rules. Students are not required to own or bring a handgun. Alpha Defense provides a training handgun for the required exercises. A student who lawfully owns a handgun may request permission in advance to use it. All personally owned firearms and ammunition are subject to instructor and range inspection. Unsafe conduct, failure to follow instructions or disruptive behavior may result in removal without a refund. COURSE COMPLETION Training documents are issued only after all classroom, handling and live-fire requirements are successfully completed. Course completion does not guarantee issuance of an HQL. The Maryland State Police determines applicant eligibility and approval. COURSE CHANGES If Alpha Defense cancels or reschedules the course, students may transfer to another available course without charge or receive a full refund.
