Service Description
Complete the Maryland State Police-approved 16-hour firearms safety training required for eligible original Wear & Carry Permit applicants. This in-person course covers Maryland and federal firearm law, home firearm safety, handgun mechanisms and operation, conflict de-escalation, safe handling, marksmanship fundamentals, and the required live-fire qualification. Students must fire a minimum of 25 rounds at no more than 15 yards and achieve a minimum score of 70% to pass. Training is provided by a Maryland Qualified Handgun Instructor. Cancellation Policy
MARYLAND WEAR & CARRY BOOKING AND CANCELLATION POLICY BOOKING AND PAYMENT Registration opens 90 days before class and closes 48 hours before class. Full payment of $325 is required when booking. Registrations are nontransferable. CANCELLATIONS Cancellations received at least 48 hours before the first class session are eligible for a $250 refund. A $75 administrative fee will be deducted. Cancellations received less than 48 hours before class are nonrefundable. The full $325 payment will be forfeited because classroom space, range time, ammunition and targets have been reserved. RESCHEDULING One rescheduling request is permitted without charge when requested at least 48 hours before class. The replacement course must be completed within 90 days of the original date and is subject to availability. A second rescheduling request requires a $75 fee. Requests received less than 48 hours before class require a new registration and payment. ATTENDANCE Students must attend and complete all scheduled classroom, practical-training and live-fire portions of the course. Students cannot combine portions from different course dates without prior approval. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late will not be admitted. Failure to attend, arriving too late or failing to complete any required portion will be treated as a no-show. The entire course payment will be forfeited, and a new registration and payment will be required. No additional no-show fee will be charged. STUDENT REQUIREMENTS Students must present valid government-issued photo identification, follow all instructor and range safety rules and successfully complete the required live-fire qualification. Students bringing a personally owned handgun must transport it lawfully. All firearms and ammunition are subject to instructor and range inspection before use. COURSE COMPLETION Training documents are issued only after all classroom, practical and live-fire requirements are successfully completed. Course completion does not guarantee permit issuance. The Maryland State Police determines applicant eligibility and permit approval. COURSE CHANGES Alpha Defense may cancel or reschedule a course because of insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, range availability, severe weather or circumstances beyond its control. If Alpha Defense cancels the course, students may transfer to another available course without charge or receive a full refund.
